PATIENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

It is your right as a patient of Shishulok Children Hospital to:

Right to Information:
You have the right to receive information about the name and qualifications of your treating doctor, your state of health, possible complications and their prevention, treatment plan, any changes to the treatment plan, the use of medications, diet and nutrition, approximate cost of treatment, cost implications in case of a change in the treatment plan, and how to address any concerns you may have.

Right to Consent:
You have the right to give or withhold your consent for any proposed treatment. You have the right to seek a second medical opinion before giving your consent. You have the right to refuse consent for treatment under clinical research/clinical trials. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any stage, in writing, if you are part of any clinical research/trial.

Right to Choose/Participate

You have the right to know all your treatment options and to participate in decisions related to your treatment. You have the right to change the treating doctor or hospital if desired.

Right to Privacy:
You have the right to receive reasonable privacy during consultation, examination, treatment, and various investigative procedures. You have the right to have your healthcare information protected. Information concerning your health and treatment may only be disclosed with your consent, except when required by law or an order of the court.

Right to Respect:
You have the right to receive appropriate treatment regardless of race, culture, religion, age, gender, or physical ability, and not to be subjected to any kind of discriminatory abuse or neglect.

Right to Quality Care:
You have the right to receive medical care in accordance with reasonably expected professional standards.

Right to Refuse:
You have the right to refuse treatment.

These rights are balanced by responsibilities that help the health service work more efficiently. You can help yourself and the hospital staff by:

Providing complete and accurate information, including full name, address, and other relevant details. Providing a complete and accurate history of your health, including present condition, past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications, or any other matters pertinent to your health. Following the prescribed treatment plan, carefully following all instructions, and attending follow-up appointments as requested. Asking questions when you do not understand any detail provided by your doctor or other healthcare team members. Informing the doctor if you anticipate any problem with the prescribed treatment or are considering alternative therapies. Accepting responsibility for the decisions you make regarding your treatment.

Abiding by all hospital rules and regulations, including the following:

Strictly following the NO SMOKING policy within the hospital campus. Ensuring that all your visitors follow the visitor timings and policies. Being considerate of noise levels, privacy, and safety of other patients and staff. Weapons or any sharp household items are prohibited within the premises. Treating hospital staff, other patients, and visitors with courtesy and respect. Being on time for appointments. Cancelling or rescheduling appointments as far in advance as possible when needed. Not taking any medications on your own without the knowledge of your doctor and healthcare professionals. Informing the doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve as planned. Not giving medications prescribed for you to others. Providing complete and accurate information for insurance claims, working with the hospital for processing claims, and making payments if the claim is denied. Paying for services billed promptly as per the hospital rules and seeking clarification if you have any concerns. Being aware that estimations given are approximate and may change if the treatment plan, duration of treatment/stay, or category of bed changes. Respecting situations when another patient’s medical condition becomes more urgent, respecting the doctor’s ability to prioritize, and understanding that the doctor may need to attend to them first. Understanding the charter of rights and seeking clarification if needed. In case you require clarification, have suggestions, or wish to register a grievance or complaint, please contact the PRO office through any hospital extension and follow the instructions.

Please Note:

Your discharge process might take 4 to 6  hours from the time the doctor informs you. If you are paying through insurance, the discharge time will depend on when the insurance company approves your bills. If the patient is shifted to the ICU or labor room, attendants will be asked to vacate the room or pay for it in addition to other charges, subject to room availability. You are not permitted to take photographs of hospital staff or facilities without written permission from hospital authorities.
